By introducing a new intensive two-track Course on the “EU and Security in The Wider Neighbourhood” designed as a two-weeks long specialized teaching programme targeting also international participants from the Eastern and Southern neighbourhood countries as well as with concrete research and publication objectives, this Module aims at creating awareness on the EU’s role in the wider neighbourhood.

The establishment of a Jean Monnet module intensifies and improves the quality of teaching and research at Kadir Has University, which aims at fostering its teaching and research capacity through global partnerships with a vision of achieving international levels of quality in teaching and research on EU related issues.

Why Kadir Has University?

Kadir Has University’s Cibali Campus is the place where history and contemporary Istanbul life are blended to create a perfect academic atmosphere. The campus is located in the heart of Istanbul, only a few minutes away both from the historical Sultanahmet Square and from Taksim which is the famous center of culture, entertainment, business, and shopping. The central location of the Campus offers our students an opportunity to stay connected to the beaming life of Istanbul.

Why Istanbul?

Istanbul has a rich history as a city that was the capital of three empires and uniquely sits across two continents – Asia and Europe. As one of the largest cities in Europe there is plenty to see and do. You can visit many historical places of interest such as the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia museum or Topkapi Palace. You can see where Florence Nightingale nursed troops in the 19th century or admire the Turkish carpet display at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. You can visit Istanbul’s many art galleries, or take part in one of the numerous cultural events and festivals that take place in the city each year. You can also explore the historic bazaars, including the Grand Bazaar, which, having opened in 1461, is the world’s oldest and largest covered market. You can browse the shopping centres and try the local cuisine at the numerous restaurants across the city or sample the local Turkish Delight. There are plenty of bars, night clubs and Turkish taverns, as well as cinemas, concert halls and theatres.
